Letters to the Editor
The more letters we write the more we can get the word out about Collins Bailey and what he stands for!
One of the best ways you can support the campaign is by writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper in support
of Collins. Before an election, many people read the editorial sections of the local newspapers to see what other people
think about the candidates and their stands on the issues. Make your voice heard too!
Listed below you will find the addresses of newspapers in our district, if your local paper is not listed,
please contact us and we'll make sure to add it to the list.
Tips on writing to the editor
1) Each paper has its own submission guidelines. Before submitting a letter,
go to the paper's web site and make sure you follow the guidelines, or your letter probably won't be published.
2) All papers will require you to provide your home address and phone number. This information is
only used to verify that you are the author of a letter, and will not be published.
3) Only submit your letter to a single paper. If it's not published, you can submit it to another paper later.
Newspapers want unique content; if you submit a letter to multiple papers and they find out about it,
they probably won't consider publishing future letters of yours.
4) It's great to get published in the Mining Journal or the Petoskey News-Review, since they have the widest
circulation in our district. But remember, you're more likely to get published in a smaller paper.
5) Less is more. Choose one point you want to make in your letter, make it, and be done.
Short letters are more likely to be published, and more likely to be read.
